Harold L. Morgan, 75, of Sullivan, died 1:30 p.m. Friday (October 18, 2013) in his home.
Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Richard Corwin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial with military rites by the Sullivan American Legion Post #68 will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Harold was born October 6, 1938 in Windsor, IL, the son of Gerald A. and Ruby G. Chappell Morgan. Harold served for 29 years as a Moultrie County Sheriff’s Deputy before retiring in 2000, was the former Lovington Chief of Police and taught Criminal Justice at Lakeland College. He was a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, Past Master of George A. Sentel Masonic Lodge #764, a Moultrie County Beacon board member and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Harold married Dawn Kenney on October 12, 1963 in Sullivan.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn of Sullivan; children, Starr Morgan of Mattoon, Amber (Dennis) Grady of Hammond, Dustin (Sylvia) Morgan of Mahomet; grandchildren, Gage, Brynn and Brody Elder, Scott Morgan, Leah Griffet and David Griffett V, mother-in-law, Lenore Kenney of Sullivan and a brother, Jim (Linda) Morgan of Windsor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
