John Calvin ‘Cal’ Neuhauser III, 72, of Sullivan died 6:30 a.m. Saturday (March 2, 2013) in his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Cal’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Columcille Catholic Church, Sullivan with Fr. John Sohm, celebrant. Rite of Committal and Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Honors Detail. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reed Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Columcille Catholic Church. Mr. Neuhauser was born October 7, 1940 in Baltimore, MD, the son of John Calvin, Jr. and Mary Margaret Price Neuhauser. Cal started his law enforcement career as a DuPage County Sheriff’s Deputy and later joined the Illinois State Police. He was a pilot for ISP Air Operations and retired with the rank of Sergeant. Cal also was the owner of Lakeside Propeller Service where he sold and repaired boat propellers. He was a four year veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and served overseas twice. Cal enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of FOP Lodge #41 and the St. Columcille Catholic Church. Cal married Patricia White on February 5, 1966 in Wheaton, IL and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Christine (Steve) Davidson of Aurora, John (Barbara) Neuhauser of Sullivan and Dan (Michelle) Neuhauser of Tolono; grandchildren, Paige and Emily Neuhauser of Sullivan and Michael and Ryan Davidson of Aurora; sisters, Eileen (Klaus) Bopp of Clarksburg, MO, Roxanne Kokes of Lake In The Hills, IL and Denise (Joe) Fulmer of Bolingbrook, IL, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Margaret ‘Sis’ Neuhauser.
