U.S. Veteran

Rev. Charles Hill, 87, of Sullivan, died 8:47 p.m. Thursday (February 7, 2013) in Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.

Private funeral services will be at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial with military rites will be in the Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Bluefield, WV. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, TN. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Rev. Hill was born March 14, 1925 in Kitts, Kentucky, the son of Lincoln Emery and Alice Brackett Hill. He attended the Johnson Bible College and the Lexington Theological Seminary. Rev. Hill was a Disciples of Christ minister, a member of the 1st Christian Church of California, Missouri and a WWII Navy veteran. He married Juanita Mae Nixon on August 24, 1947 in Bluefield, West Virginia and she preceded him in death on July 18, 1987.

Survivors include his son, Charles Richard Hill of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Deborah (John) Allen of Columbia, MO and Karen (David) Coe of Sullivan; grandchildren, Michael Coe, Jimmy Coe, Sarah Coe, Ruth Taylor, Rebecca Hill and Grace Payne; nine great grandchildren; dear friend, Lois Radasch of Decatur; brother, Curtis Hill of Pueblo, CO; sisters, Frances Little of Ohio and Eloise Stewart of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and four sisters.
