Mitch Netherton, 68, of Sullivan, died 2:15 p.m. Monday (January 28, 2013) in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.
Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Houser officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Jonathan Creek Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.
Mitch was born May 20, 1944 in Sullivan, the son of Olen and Maude Emberton Netherton. He retired from Firestone in Decatur after 35 years of service, but his true love was collecting and restoring John Deere Tractors and farming. Mitch loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Lovington First Church of God. Mitch married Sharon Quick on August 24, 1962 in the Jonathan Creek Christian Church and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage together and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Mitch Netherton of Lovington, Stacey Carnes of Sullivan and Tracey (Eric) Enderby of Warsaw, IL; grandchildren, Mackinzey (Kyle) Price of Bloomington, Whitney Carnes of Springfield, Cesciley Carnes of Carlinville, IL, Mitchell Netherton, Benjamin Netherton and Spencer Netherton, all of Springfield, P. J. Kruse of Warsaw, Kyle (Kristein) Kruse of Ursa, IL, Noah Enderby of Warsaw, IL; great grandchildren, Phoenix Kruse of Warsaw, Korbyn Kruse of Ursa, Ruey Ann Price of Bloomington and Kali Netherton of Springfield, brother, Don (Anita) Netherton of Decatur, sisters, Modena (Wayne) Barnes of Sullivan, Maurine (Don) Sanders of Sullivan, Kate (Bill) Miller of Tuscola and Linda Jarrand of Sullivan; sister-in-law Thelma Netherton of Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred.
