John E. Moody, 68, of Sullivan, died 9:40 a.m. Thursday (August 16, 2012) at his step-daughter’s home in Luling, Louisiana.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Ingram officiating. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday with public Masonic rites at 8:00 p.m. The family request casual attire. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association or the Sullivan Fire Department. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.
Mr. Moody was born August 7, 1944 in Decatur, IL, the son of James and Irene Hale Moody. John was a farmer and in 1962 was president of the Sullivan FFA. John was a member of the Sullivan Ambucs, the George A. Sentel Masonic Lodge #764. He was a trustee for the Sullivan Fire Protection District from 1993 until 2005 and currently a trustee since 2007. John married Betty McMahon Harlin on March 7, 2002 in Sullivan and she survives.
Also surviving is his son, Ed Moody of Sullivan; stepchildren, Bill Harlin of Lovington and Teesha Wildman of Luling, LA; mother, Irene Moody of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren, Heather and Hannah Moody, both of Sullivan; step-grandchildren, Emily and Evan Harlin, both of Lovington, Keylee and Maddie Wildman, both of Luling, LA; sister, Nancy Kubec of Shawnee Mission, KS; and his special companions, Fritz, Jock and B. J.
He was preceded by his father.
