Francis P. Luedke

Francis P. Luedke, 85, of Mattoon, died 1:15 p.m. Wednesday (July 18, 2012) in the Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mattoon with the Rev. Dennis Kollross officiating. Visitation will be 9- 11 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mattoon. Rite of Commital and Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Mattoon with military rites conducted by the Mattoon VFW Post # 4325. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Heartland Christian Village. Arrangements by the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Francis was born July 31, 1926 in Neoga, the son of Joseph E. and Frances Ruth Kennedy Luedke. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, had been the general manager for the Farmers Grain Company of Dorans, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mattoon, Loyal Order of the Moose # 803, Mattoon Eagles # 3438, Neoga American Legion Post #458 and the Mattoon VFW Post # 4325. He married Claudonna M. Schoenhoff on September 3, 1949, and she preceded him in death on November 17,1996.

Surviving are his sons, James F. (Marie) Luedke of Sullivan, Thomas R. (Cindy) Luedke of Argenta, Timothy W. (Barb) Luedke of Tuscola, Joseph L. Luedke and fiancé Carol of Lincoln; daughters, Patricia M. Luedke of Mattoon, Kay A. (Randy) DeVore of Swansea, IL; brother, John R. (Margaret) Luedke of Charleston; grandchildren, Josie Luedke (Andrew Weatherford) of Forsyth, Andrew Luedke of Navarre, FL, Jackie (Donnie) Countryman of Burn, TN, Matthew Luedke of Chicago, Philip Luedke of Decatur, Katie Luedke of Murray, KY, Zachery DeVore and Megan DeVore of Swansea; step great granddaughter, Bryanna Countryman; sister-in-laws, Toni Hays of Lone Tree, CO, Gerry Fulle of Effingham and Naomi Berstrand of Kankakee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandson, Will Luedke.
